Welcome!

I’m a writer, sometime software consultant, and gadabout living in the dead-center of San Francisco. I’m currently trying to sell a novel; read the introduction if you’re interested. If you want to read something else, click one of the stories to the left. And, of course, there’s a blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Burning the candle at all ends

I’ve come to the realization that in the past two and a half months, I have
1) Moved
2) Worked more than normal, including a couple of mid-week business trips
3) Done all of the stuff that comes along with moving (getting rid of things, getting some new/used things, etc.)
4) Written a completely new scavenger hunt as a freelance project
5) Formatted two new versions of the Perplexing Problem
6) Put perplexingproblem.com online.
7) Done two live storytelling events
8) Been gone for 50% of the possible weekends
9) Run a half-marathon
10) Completed a volunteer writing project

My friend Jim says that everyone in San Francisco is always doing three things, including a day job. I think I’m doing more than that, and after the next big thing is over, I am going to take a long mellow period, with more writing and reading for myself, and I will slowly decide what the next thing, if one is to come, is going to be. That, and promoting the book. Right. Just that.

I wish I knew…

1) Php well enough to be able to troubleshoot an odd php problem.
2) How to really poach an egg
3) Web promotion. Well, enough about it to do a real promotional campaign for the Perplexing Problem

Perplexing…

Hey, are you reading The Perplexing Problem yet? Because you should be…

Zonked

I’ve spent the last six (!) hours doing various document editing and things for the Perplexing Problem, and I’m pretty wiped. That said, I’m fairly excited; I was going to do all of the ebook formatting myself, but I’ve changed my mind and am going to use Smashwords, which seems like less work on my side for a superior end result. I’m willing to give them 15% of what I sell, especially given their ability to get into the larger ebook stores.

Physical book will probably be through Amazon at CreateSpace, which will be fine. I think that will take another week or so to get completely together. So, that’s the whole publishing thing. Honestly? If I’d had my act more together I would have had this done six months ago. Ah well.

Seven Days

And counting. Yes, this is a tease. But the Perplexing Problem is seven days away!
