I’ve been writing for businesses for many years. It turns out that the basic rules for writing copy aren’t much different than those espoused by Strunk + White and William Zinsser. Omit needless words. Have a point. Make every sentence count. And, omit needless words. What is a needless word? Well, if you’ve reached a point in a website where you’re struggling to add more words to fill space, those words are needless. Either fix the problem with design, or just leave white space. White space is good. Here endeth the lesson.
- San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates Program
SF CASA provides mentorship to foster children who may have no other constant adult presence. I worked with them on a team that delivered a new, streamlined website.
- Dolores Street Community Services
DSCS runs two shelters in San Francisco. I worked on a team that completely updated their website, helping DSCS shape their client’s stories into Web form and rewriting the content to more accurately reflect their mission.
AltruIT’s Options is a powerful Web-based software system designed to help foster-care social workers. I wrote the website content and created several brochures for them.
- Spectrum Settlement Recovery
This is a little older, but I wrote most of the content for this site
I have written for other sites; if you would like a more complete listing, or have questions about what I can do, please drop me a line at dapperdanj (at) gmail dot com.
