Zeitoun by Dave Eggers is one of the best books I’ve read this year. It’s also the most depressing. So, it was fortuitous that after finishing it at a burger joint down in the Mission, I happened to run into a group of people, including several friends, who were Christmas caroling around the Castro.
Nothing cheers you up like singing Christmas songs, ’tis true.
