Fantasy, fulfilled

Dan | January 28, 2009

For the past two years I’ve had this fantasy. It’s not a dirty one, and it’s not particularly embarassing. But as I sit here, I’m fulfilling it, so I thought I’d share.
Yep, I’m working from home in bunny slippers. Excellent.

Romance

Dan | January 25, 2009

I’m a romantic and always have been. Not a romantic in the flowers-and-candy sense, but a romantic in the old English sense, the Dickensian kind, the kind where things should work out for people who are good enough people that stuff should work out for them.
And that is why I really liked Slumdog Millionaire. It’s [...]

Now that felt good!

Dan | January 23, 2009

I did some different writing this evening than I’ve been doing. I revisted Charlie, my assassin who’s not all that good at his job. Now, you may remember that the last time I wrote anything involving him was two and a half years ago (wow. That long?), before I started grad school.

Ugh

Dan | January 21, 2009

I’m terrible. I’m awful. I have the verbal talent of a deranged, mute flea. That’s how I feel between the last post and this one. I wrote 725 words of a story that has no

Odd and a little scary

Dan | January 19, 2009

While I’m perfectly happy to frolic in the sun on beautiful days like today (indeed, I’m just about to head out and frolic now), there’s something really weird about a full week + of 70 degree days in January. If I wanted to live in Los Angeles, I’d move there.

Some of the rock

Dan | January 15, 2009

Hey, a non-travel-related thought. I’m listening to “Take me to the Riot” by Stars right now. The chorus is just amazing. I think it’s a song about privileged street-kid drug/Indybay culture, but I could be wrong. Anyway, it’s good.

I’m wearing glasses now

Dan | January 13, 2009

“Aw, something’s dying in my beer.”
So said Julie this afternoon as we sat on a wicker bench in the Grandview Restaurant on Ko Jum island, enjoying a cold drink and listening to the high whine of cicadas and teh deep roar of ocean thunder.
We had started the day with toast and eggs made by [...]
